    What it means for buyers

For buyers, the month confirms two tracks. Suite vendors are bundling agents with governance and data access they already control, which lowers integration effort for existing customers. Specialists are competing on speed, language coverage and regional presence. Buyers should test how each platform handles permissions, audit trails and cross-system data before committing to multi-year agent programmes.

September was a busy month for agentic AI platforms, with most of the activity coming from the large application suites. Salesforce used Dreamforce to introduce AIforce, a layer that opens its data, workflows and permissions to outside AI tools, and previewed Koa, a CRM reasoning model. Adecco Group's rollout of Agentforce Coworker to 27,000 staff gives buyers a large reference deployment to study. ServiceNow bought Sweep to add metadata governance across CRM systems, signed an AI workflow agreement with Aramco Digital and gained a sovereign partner cloud in Germany through T-Systems. It also shipped an EmployeeWorks release built on Moveworks technology. Among specialists, Ema closed a $77 million Series B and plans to expand into APAC and EMEA, NiCE Cognigy made its platform generally available in India with multilingual agents, and Freshworks extended Freddy AI with natural-language workflows and an email agent. Sierra joined OpenAI's new B2B marketplace as a launch partner, earned AIUC-1 certification and extended Ghostwriter into Slack and Teams. SimplAI gained analyst placements from Nucleus Research and Everest Group. Teneo.AI completed a rights issue that relied partly on guarantors, which points to a tighter funding position.

Ema raises $77 million Series B led by Creaegis to scale its AI employee platform

Ema closed a $77 million Series B round led by Bengaluru-based Creaegis, with Accel, S32 and Prosus also participating. The company says total funding now stands near $140 million. It plans to use the capital to build out go-to-market teams and expand into APAC and EMEA, and cites Wipro, Hitachi and NTT Data as customers of its agent platform.

Buyer takeawayBuyers evaluating Ema gain more confidence in its funding runway and should expect broader regional sales and support coverage in APAC and EMEA.

Salesforce launches AIforce and Koa CRM reasoning model at Dreamforce

At its Dreamforce keynote, Salesforce introduced AIforce, an interface layer that exposes its data, workflows and permissions to outside AI tools. It includes Claudeforce, built with Anthropic and now in open beta, Slackforce and Agentforce Coworker. The company also previewed Koa, a CRM reasoning model post-trained on NVIDIA Nemotron, with general availability expected in winter 2026.

Buyer takeawaySalesforce customers can increasingly reach CRM data and agents from Claude and Slack, so buyers should review governance, licensing and permission models before opening these channels.

ServiceNow acquires Israeli agentic metadata startup Sweep

ServiceNow acquired Sweep, a Tel Aviv and New York company whose agentic workspace monitors and governs metadata across ServiceNow, Salesforce and HubSpot. Terms were not disclosed, though Israeli press estimated the price in the hundreds of millions of dollars. ServiceNow said the deal strengthens AI-native development and agentic deployment for CRM, following its earlier purchase of ai.work.

Buyer takeawayThe deal signals that ServiceNow is pushing harder into CRM, so buyers running Salesforce alongside ServiceNow should watch how Sweep support for rival platforms evolves.

Sierra joins OpenAI's new B2B marketplace as a launch partner

Sierra became a launch partner on OpenAI's new business marketplace. Eligible OpenAI customers can apply part of their existing OpenAI spending commitment to building customer-facing agents on Sierra's platform. The move extends Sierra's earlier involvement with OpenAI Frontier and pairs the marketplace route with Sierra's outcome-based pricing, where customers pay for results such as a retained subscriber or a completed sale.

Buyer takeawayEnterprises with committed OpenAI budgets can now fund Sierra agent projects from that commitment instead of opening a separate procurement line.
