India's AI and data workforce is experiencing a structural shift, with attrition varying across roles, experience levels, organisations, industries, and geographies. Frontier AI roles such as GenAI, LLM, and MLOps Engineers report significantly higher attrition than enterprise data roles, while retention improves steadily with experience. Startups, consulting firms, and the technology sector face the highest workforce mobility, whereas IT/ITeS, BFSI, Life Sciences, and Manufacturing demonstrate greater stability. Looking ahead, Agentic AI is expected to increase demand for orchestration, governance, and integration skills, sustaining mobility among experienced AI professionals while reducing reliance on routine roles.
