Bumper.com Launches AI Tool to Simplify Vehicle History Reports

The AI-driven tool goes beyond mere data aggregation. It also provides an estimated History-Based Value, taking into account the vehicle's unique history to offer a more precise valuation

Bumper.com has unveiled its latest feature, Smart Insights. This innovative tool harnesses the power of generative artificial intelligence to swiftly analyze and condense the most critical information from vehicle history reports.

Smart Insights is engineered to identify and prioritize data based on a comprehensive set of criteria that can significantly influence a vehicle’s condition, value, and market appeal. These factors may include accident history, maintenance records, ownership history, mileage, and other key elements.

Alessandro Mannino, Senior Director of Product Management at Bumper.com, explained the rationale behind the new feature. “Digging through an extensive vehicle history report can be so time consuming and laborious that buyers aren’t finding the important data they need,” Mannino said. “Smart Insights makes the process of researching a used vehicle faster so buyers aren’t missing out on crucial parts of a vehicle’s past.”

The AI-driven tool goes beyond mere data aggregation. It also provides an estimated History-Based Value, taking into account the vehicle’s unique history to offer a more precise valuation. Additionally, Smart Insights ranks these insights from best to worst and assigns a simple rating to guide users in their decision-making process.

Accessing Smart Insights is straightforward. Users can find it in the left navigation bar of any vehicle history report on Bumper.com, located just below the summary and photos section.

Addressing potential concerns about AI reliability, Bumper.com has implemented safeguards to ensure the accuracy of Smart Insights. The company states that it has carefully designed the feature with a series of guardrails, ensuring that information is directly referenced from their reports and subjected to human oversight.

This innovative use of AI technology in the automotive industry could potentially streamline the used car buying process, making it easier for consumers to make informed decisions quickly. As the market for pre-owned vehicles continues to grow, tools like Smart Insights may become increasingly valuable for both buyers and sellers.
