SoundHound AI, Inc. has entered a partnership with Perplexity, a conversational AI-powered answer engine, for SoundHound Chat AI to incorporate its online LLM features. SoundHound Chat AI, powered by real-time domains and generative AI responses, is arguably the most advanced voice assistant on the market today.
This move ensures that SoundHound’s AI product will also become the most potent voice assistant in the world. The business already has relationships with many of the major players in the food and automotive industries for its voice AI assistant capabilities. Applebees, owned by Dine Brand’s, has used SoundHound’s technology in all of its locations.
“By integrating Perplexity search capabilities into SoundHound Chat AI we’re raising the bar for voice assistants and the kinds of queries they can handle effortlessly,” said Mike Zagorsek, Chief Operations Officer at SoundHound AI. “Where this technology is already deployed in vehicles, we’re seeing usage habits shift substantially – increasing by multiples. We’re confident that this enhancement will further delight users as more and more people choose to talk rather than type.”
SoundHound Chat AI’s inclusion of Perplexity will let the voice assistant to respond to web-based inquiries that static LLMs are now unable to answer with precision and updated information. With these additional features, users will be able to ask more complicated questions—like how much petrol costs this week are compared to last—and get thorough answers that include real-time data and contextualised explanations.
Furthermore, Perplexity’s search features will be easily integrated with SoundHound Chat AI to provide improved user experiences. For example, after asking about petrol prices, customers may quickly find the closest petrol station thanks to the assistant’s integration with navigation software and usage of data from relevant sources.
With automotive partner Stellantis, SoundHound Chat AI—which made history by becoming the first voice assistant to debut with generative AI capabilities and move into production for automotive use—is currently available in more than 12 countries and 18 languages.
Moreover, the assistant uses a specifically designed arbitration system to choose the optimal response on its own, preventing “AI hallucinations.”
Commenting on the partnership, Dmitry Shevelenko, Chief Business Officer at Perplexity AI, expressed excitement, “Through this integration with SoundHound’s Chat AI assistant, we’re one step closer to our goal of making Perplexity available to everyone across every device they use,” “With the growing popularity of voice AI, we’re allowing users to more easily access the information they need, when they need it.”
With this alliance, SoundHound AI contributes over two decades of AI, voice recognition, and natural language processing experience. Thanks to the company’s patented technology, which guarantees category-leading speed and accuracy, customers may now access generative AI replies, a variety of real-time knowledge areas, and Perplexity’s online search results.
