Soluna Holdings, a developer of green data centers for Bitcoin mining, is expanding into the rapidly growing artificial intelligence (AI) cloud services space through a new collaboration with a leading global enterprise computing company.
The company this week announced the formation of Soluna Cloud, a new subsidiary focused on providing sustainable and scalable AI cloud and hosting services. Soluna Cloud has signed an agreement with a major strategic partner to deliver an initial cluster of NVIDIA’s latest H100 GPUs, which are designed to accelerate AI workloads.
John Belizaire, CEO of Soluna, expressed his enthusiasm about this partnership, stating, “We are honored to enter this collaboration to launch Soluna Cloud. Our new partner is a leader in supercomputing and is aligned with our mission to make AI more sustainable.”
The collaboration will allow Soluna Cloud to leverage the strategic partner’s renewable-powered, high-performance data centers, known for their energy efficiency and sustainability. This aligns with Soluna’s commitment to environmental sustainability and its plans to develop its own cutting-edge Helix data centers, specifically designed for AI applications and powered by renewable energy.
“Enterprises need platforms that allow rapid deployment of AI workloads without needing a lot of expertise, data center infrastructure, and large budgets,” Belizaire added. “The convergence of AI and renewable energy is our novel approach to address the surging electricity demands of generative AI.”
When the NVIDIA H100 GPU cluster is deployed, it is expected to represent substantial annual revenue for Soluna Cloud. The company plans to make the H100 GPUs available for enterprise customers and is encouraging interested parties to join its waitlist.
With a growing pipeline of AI customers interested in its sustainable AI cloud and hosting services, Soluna anticipates significant growth opportunities in the coming months as it expands its offerings beyond just bare-metal infrastructure to include comprehensive software solutions for AI pipelines.
This strategic move by Soluna highlights the increasing demand for sustainable and energy-efficient solutions in the rapidly evolving AI industry, as well as the company’s commitment to addressing the environmental challenges associated with the computational requirements of advanced AI workloads.
