Asana, the leading work management platform, is shaking up the workplace with the introduction of AI teammates – artificial intelligence collaborators designed to tackle complex tasks, automate workflows, and help teams achieve their goals faster.
The newly announced “AI teammates” are adaptable AI assistants that can advise teams on priorities, power customized workflows, triage risks, action projects, and even reallocate work autonomously, all while operating within set boundaries defined by human supervisors.

At the core of this innovation is Asana’s proprietary data model called the Work Graph®, which provides a structured foundation for the AI to understand work context, goals, and processes. This contextual grounding sets Asana’s AI teammates apart from other AI solutions that lack this organizational data framing.
“The future of work involves seamlessly combining human and artificial intelligence to drive productivity and innovation gains,” said Dustin Moskovitz, Asana’s co-founder and CEO. “We’re able to do this better than anyone because the Work Graph links work and workflows to organizational objectives, making our AI teammates highly effective coworkers.”
The AI teammates can be customized endlessly for different roles, processes, and industries. Humans remain in control, with visibility into the AI’s actions and the ability to collaborate alongside it in real-time.
Early customers are already harnessing AI teammates for critical business workflows like product launches, strategic planning, creative production, and employee onboarding. One major advertising firm is using the AI to triage creative requests, assign tasks, conduct research, and enforce consistent data standards, freeing human creatives to focus on design.
Asana has also launched an AI chat interface where users can conversationally instruct the AI on tasks like identifying project blockers, finding internal experts, and delegating work items – all with human oversight.
According to Asana CPO Alex Hood, 89% of workers who use AI daily experience productivity gains. “Pairing humans with AI has dramatically boosted our collective productivity,” he said.
“ At Palo Alto Networks, we see a future where AI becomes an integrated teammate working alongside our employees to unlock new levels of productivity, drive innovation, and deliver results, ” says Meerah Rajavel, CIO at Palo Alto Networks. “ Asana’s AI capabilities have the potential to help us realize our vision of becoming an AI-powered workforce, redefining what’s possible for the future of work and strengthening our position as the cybersecurity partner of choice. ”
“ At Anthropic, we envision a future where trusted AI is developed and used responsibly to empower workers, enhance human capabilities, and benefit society as a whole,” says Dianne Penn, Product Manager at Anthropic. “By prioritizing transparency, trust, and collaboration between humans and AI, we can create systems that serve as supportive teammates, augmenting human intelligence rather than replacing it. We have the opportunity to unlock newfound realms of productivity, creativity, and potential – ultimately building a future where cutting-edge technology and human ingenuity combine to help us all reach new heights. ”
With an AI roadmap powered by frontier models from Anthropic, OpenAI and others, Asana is staking its claim as a pioneer in bringing artificial intelligence into the flow of work as capable partners to human teams.
