Today content is king, and attention spans are dwindling, content creators face an ever-present challenge: how to transform long-form videos into short, engaging clips that resonate with audiences across social media platforms.
OpusClip, an AI-driven startup on a mission to solve this problem by making video editing not just faster, but smarter. With the recent announcement of a $30 million Series A funding round led by Millennium New Horizons, OpusClip is set to expand its platform and redefine how creators approach video content.
Since its launch in June, OpusClip has been laser-focused on addressing a critical pain point for content creators—converting long videos into concise, impactful clips suitable for platforms like TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels. The company’s innovative AI technology automatically identifies the most compelling moments within videos, adjusting aspect ratios, and optimizing content for viral potential. For creators, this means spending less time in the editing suite and more time doing what they do best—creating.
The newly acquired funds will fuel OpusClip’s expansion and development efforts, ensuring that the platform continues to evolve in response to user needs. “Our mission has always been to democratize video editing by making it accessible and efficient for everyone,” says co founder and CEO Young Zhao. “With this investment, we can take our technology to the next level, helping creators of all sizes produce high-quality content effortlessly.”
One of OpusClip’s standout features is its ability to detect speakers, moving objects, and key hooks within videos, rearranging them into cohesive, high-impact clips. This has proven particularly effective for various content types, including video podcasts, educational material, product reviews, and motivational speeches. The platform doesn’t just trim videos; it reimagines them, maximizing their potential for engagement.
The introduction of ClipAnything, a new feature currently in beta, adds an extra layer of flexibility for users. This tool allows creators to guide the AI, specifying the type of content they’re editing—whether it’s sports highlights, interviews, or commentary videos—and even prompting the AI to find specific moments most likely to go viral. Unlike other AI-driven editing tools that rely solely on transcribed dialogue, ClipAnything analyzes visual and audio elements, making it a powerful tool for creating dynamic, engaging content. “We’re giving creators more control without adding complexity,” says cofounder and CTO Jay Wu. “ClipAnything is designed to understand not just what’s being said, but what’s happening in the video, making it easier to create content that resonates.”

Since its launch, OpusClip has attracted over six million users, including major names like Billboard, Telefónica, and Univision. The platform offers various subscription plans, including a free option that allows up to 60 minutes of video processing per month. Paid plans come with additional perks, such as extended processing time, enhanced social media scheduling, access to AI-generated B-roll material, and silence removal. As OpusClip continues to innovate, Wu emphasizes that the company’s AI models are constantly being refined based on user feedback and the performance of generated videos. “These data help us train our models to understand what clips are good and how to find better highlight moments,” Wu explains. “This continuous learning loop is what drives the quality of our product.”
OpusClip’s commitment to staying ahead of the curve is further demonstrated by its early entry into TikTok’s App Center. This move allows advertisers of all sizes to create high-performing ad creatives at scale from any video assets with just one click. For Zhao, this is just the beginning. “We’re not just building a tool; we’re building a platform that adapts to the needs of our users, whether they’re influencers, educators, or brands,” he says.
Looking ahead, OpusClip has ambitious plans. The ClipAnything feature is expected to exit beta within a few months, with more innovative tools in development to make video editing even more accessible. As the company continues to refine its AI models, it remains committed to saving video creators hours of manual editing, enabling them to produce high-quality short clips effortlessly. “Our goal is to make video editing as intuitive and seamless as possible,” says Zhao. “We’re just getting started, and we’re excited about the future.”
With its recent funding and a clear vision for the future, OpusClip is well on its way to transforming the landscape of video content creation. As the company continues to innovate and expand, it’s clear that the future of video editing is not just automated—it’s intelligent. “Our current progress is just the end of the beginning. We’re thrilled about the forthcoming challenges and the innovation that lies ahead.” says Young Z.
