A Journey of Leadership and Expertise
In his most recent position as Chief Data and Analytics Officer, Davidson is at the helm of Morningstar’s global analytics group, overseeing the development of Morningstar’s analytics software products and services. He plays a pivotal role in shaping the product strategy, methodologies, and implementations for the Morningstar analytics software suite. Beyond this, Davidson sets the company’s broader AI and analytics vision and roadmap, aligning it with strategic business goals.
From Research Oversight to Founding Quantitative Research
Before stepping into his current role in 2023, Davidson served as the Global Director for Morningstar Research Services, a subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. In this capacity, he led a global research business consisting of over 300 professionals across 16 countries. His tenure at Morningstar also includes the founding of Morningstar’s Quantitative Research department in 2014, which he scaled into a world-class research function. During this period, he advocated for Morningstar’s adoption of cloud computing and contributed to the design of Morningstar’s central data platform.

Throughout his career, Davidson has consistently demonstrated leadership and innovation. His journey began in 2010 when he joined Morningstar as a Product Consultant. Over the years, he progressed through various roles, including Senior Quantitative Analyst, Quantitative Analyst, Manager Research Analyst, and Director, Head of Quantitative Research.
Educational Background and Professional Accolades
Davidson holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Chicago and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst®.
