In a significant appointment, Jason Williams has been named Chief Analytics Officer for the U.S. Air Force Personnel Center’s (AFPC) Data, Analysis, and Research Division. The seasoned professional brings a wealth of experience to this pivotal role, having spent the majority of his career dedicated to advancing analytical research within the U.S. Department of the Air Force.

A Humbling Homecoming

With a career spanning diverse sectors, Jason Williams expresses his gratitude for the opportunity to lead one of the premier units for data and analytics at the AFPC. The appointment marks a homecoming of sorts, considering Williams’ extensive experience within the Air Force Personnel Center.

Leadership and Advisory Roles

In his new role, Williams is tasked with advising the HQ Air Force Air Staff and AFPC leadership on analytical research pertaining to hiring, assignments, surveys, and retention of active-duty service members. Managing six distinct branches comprising 85 personnel, including officers, enlisted, and civilian staff, he brings strategic leadership to the forefront.

Proven Track Record at the Air Force Personnel Center

Before his recent appointment, Williams served as the Principal Technical Advisor at the AFPC’s Research, Analytics, and Data Division from February 2020 to December 2023. In this role, he managed task requests from Congressional and Pentagon leadership, mentored research initiatives, and played a pivotal role in developing contingency plans for remote work transitions.

Versatile Career in Analytics and Management

Jason Williams’ professional journey includes roles outside the military, notably as the Director of Credit Card Product Management at USAA, where he led strategic initiatives and managed network relationships with major credit card providers. His background also encompasses roles in marketing analysis and academia.

From the Classroom to the Frontlines

Beginning his career as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the United States Air Force Academy, Williams went on to serve as an Active Duty Officer and Scientific Analyst. His contributions ranged from leading operational assessments teams during the Iraq War to deploying statistical process control techniques and force structure planning at the Air Force Personnel Center.
