BAO Systems, a leading provider of data solutions for international development and digital health, has announced the promotion of Katherine Lew to the role of Chief Data Officer (CDO). Lew, with over 20 years of experience in public health, data analytics, and health information systems, has been instrumental in BAO Systems’ success since joining the company in 2018.
Throughout her tenure at BAO Systems, Lew has held key positions, most recently serving as Senior Director of Analytics. In this role, she led the development and execution of the company’s analytics strategy, driving significant advancements in product development, digital transformation, and client satisfaction. Her leadership in human-centered design and data-driven decision-making has been crucial in realizing the company’s vision and objectives.
Lew’s impact at BAO Systems is evident in the company’s performance, achieving an average 20% increase in annual revenue over two consecutive years and maintaining a proposal win rate of over 60%. She played a pivotal role in developing the BAO Analytics Platform, collaborating closely with the Chief Technology Officer to create innovative solutions that enhance organizational decision-making through web-based information systems and technical assistance.
In her new position as CDO, Lew will oversee the strategic direction of data management, governance, and analytics. Her responsibilities will include enhancing data-driven decision-making processes, optimizing data governance frameworks, and expanding the use of advanced analytics and artificial intelligence across BAO Systems’ portfolio.
Lew holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) in International Health from Boston University, where she also contributes as an instructor, teaching courses such as “Using Mobile Technology to Improve Health Outcomes.” Her career is distinguished by numerous awards and publications, reflecting her ongoing commitment to advancing public health through data analytics.

Lew’s extensive experience includes working in multiple countries across Asia and Africa, providing her with valuable insights into the data needs of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and Ministries of Health. Her expertise in monitoring and evaluation (M&E), research, health information systems, data management, and data analytics positions BAO Systems to continue its leadership in providing innovative data solutions for global health and development challenges.
