SoundHound AI, Inc. has announced its acquisition of Amelia, a prominent enterprise AI software company. This strategic combination positions SoundHound AI at the forefront of voice and conversational generative AI solutions, with an expanded reach across multiple industries including retail, financial services, healthcare, automotive, smart devices, and restaurants.
The acquisition, valued at $80 million in cash and equity, brings together decades of experience in conversational AI and complementary product portfolios. The combined entity will serve nearly 200 marquee customers, including some of the largest multinational enterprises, top 15 global banks, and Fortune 500 organizations. For SoundHound AI, this deal represents a significant expansion of its customer service division, capitalizing on the accelerating adoption of voice and conversational generative AI solutions.
The merger is anticipated to generate several synergies, positioning the company as a leader in conversational AI by combining expertise and proprietary technology. It will enable vertical expansion into large addressable markets such as healthcare, insurance, and financial services, while also diversifying the customer base so that no single customer contributes more than 10% of the total combined revenue.
Additionally, the merger is expected to drive revenue growth through cross-selling opportunities and cost savings, particularly through the utilization of SoundHound’s proprietary technology, and open up new monetization avenues in voice commerce across various industries.
Keyvan Mohajer, CEO and Co-Founder of SoundHound AI, commented on the acquisition; “SoundHound AI has emerged as a leader in bringing voice-enabled conversational AI to products and services. Now with more businesses choosing voice AI technology for customer service – and more consumers expecting a seamless, AI-powered service – this acquisition positions SoundHound as a strong force with range, scale, and world class technology. Amelia is an innovative company that shares our passion for AI-fueled conversations. We are looking forward to leveraging our shared capabilities to offer the best AI customer support solutions available anywhere.”
Lanham Napier, President of Amelia and Co-Founder of BuildGroup, added; “We’re excited to bring Amelia’s experience and relationships to SoundHound AI, bolstering the company’s growing AI customer service business to form a new category leader in the space. With impressive penetration into a range of vertical industries, proprietary technology, and decades of combined AI experience, SoundHound is well positioned to take advantage of burgeoning interest in conversational AI customer support.”
The combined company is projected to generate over $150 million in revenue in 2025, with Amelia contributing more than $45 million in recurring AI software revenue. The transaction is expected to be accretive to SoundHound’s earnings in the second half of 2025, with significant revenue and cost synergies driving growth and profitability in subsequent years.
This acquisition not only accelerates SoundHound AI’s customer service offerings but also expands its vision of a voice commerce ecosystem. Building on its recent acquisition of food ordering marketplace Allset, the company now aims to integrate voice transactions across a broader range of industries, including healthcare, financial services, and retail.
