Bito Raises $5.7M to Build AI Code Review Agents That Actually Understand Codebase

“Code is becoming easier to write. But quality, production-ready code? That’s only getting harder to review and sustain.” ~ Amar Goel, CEO & Co-Founder, Bito

Bito, the AI-powered code review platform, has announced a $5.7 million seed extension round led by Vela Partners, with participation from existing investors NextView Ventures, Maxitech Ventures, Eniac Ventures, and select others. The funding will accelerate the expansion of Bito’s AI Code Review Platform, which promises to transform how development teams approach code reviews through advanced codebase awareness capabilities.

Beyond Traditional Code Scanning

Unlike conventional code review tools that simply scan for syntax errors, Bito’s flagship AI Code Review Agent integrates seamlessly into existing GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket workflows to deliver contextual, line-by-line feedback. The platform supports over 50 programming languages and provides thoughtful analysis that mirrors how experienced developers would approach code review.

What distinguishes Bito is its deep understanding of project-specific context. The AI agent comprehends unique architectures, design patterns, and coding standards while maintaining enterprise-grade security protocols. This contextual awareness allows it to identify potential issues, suggest performance improvements, and offer one-click fixes that align with each team’s specific development practices.

The platform has gained significant traction, processing and improving over 10,000 pull requests weekly. Notable clients include Gainsight, Whatfix, and PubMatic, where engineering teams report substantial productivity gains by offloading repetitive review tasks to focus on complex problem-solving.

Impressive Adoption Metrics

According to Bito’s global user survey, teams leveraging the platform experience remarkable improvements in their development workflows. The data reveals 89% faster pull request merges, 34% fewer regressions, and 87% of pull request feedback now handled by AI. Perhaps most compelling is the reported return on investment of $14 for every $1 spent on the platform.

The most popular programming languages on Bito include JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, and Java, with growing adoption in Go and C#. This broad language support reflects the platform’s versatility across different technology stacks and development environments.

From IDE Extension to Code Review Platform

Founded in 2023 by Amar Goel, Anand Das, and Mukesh Agarwal, Bito initially entered the market with an IDE extension that became the highest-rated AI chat application in the Visual Studio Code Marketplace. The extension now serves more than 100,000 developers monthly worldwide, providing the foundation that informed the company’s evolution toward comprehensive code review solutions.

This early success validated the founders’ hypothesis that developers sought more than simple autocomplete functionality. They wanted intelligent, contextual assistance that could meaningfully improve engineering workflows rather than just accelerate typing.

“What started as putting AI chat in a developer’s IDE has blossomed into a code reviewing platform designed for big, challenging codebases,” said CEO & Co-Founder of Bito. “Not just autocomplete or code generation, but something that actually helps teams ship better code, faster and the first time.”

Advanced AI Architecture

Bito’s current platform leverages sophisticated large language models, including Claude Sonnet 3.7 and GPT-4o, to deliver comprehensive code analysis. These models enable the system to process far more than individual code snippets, analyzing pull request diffs, code dependencies, and architectural patterns across entire repositories.

The AI agent identifies various issues including regressions, style inconsistencies, and security vulnerabilities. It then provides clear, actionable suggestions directly within pull request comments, continuously improving its recommendations based on team feedback and acceptance patterns.

The Agentic AI Advantage

Bito positions itself at the forefront of agentic AI development, a new category of artificial intelligence systems that operate as autonomous agents capable of reasoning and decision-making rather than passive tools. These agents interpret architecture, detect subtle regressions, and apply fixes in real-time within developers’ natural workflows.

The platform’s AI agents actively plan, critique, and adapt their reviews to align with organizational best practices, technology stacks, and coding styles. This awareness spans from local pull request context to broader architectural patterns, making it particularly effective for navigating modern, complex codebases.

The Rise of Vibe Coding

Bito’s approach aligns with an emerging development philosophy called “vibe coding” where developers collaborate with intelligent agents that understand not just syntax but context, intent, and team-specific nuances. This represents a fundamental shift from traditional, rules-based development processes toward dynamic, collaborative workflows.

“Agentic systems like Bito are transforming software creation from a static, rules-based process into a dynamic, collaborative flow, one where devs don’t just code, they vibe with the system,” said one industry analyst. “This is what vibe coding enables: fluid, fast, and deeply contextual development.”

As this philosophy gains traction across startups and enterprises, tools like Bito are becoming essential infrastructure for scaling the symbiotic relationship between human creativity and machine precision.

Future Vision

The company’s roadmap extends beyond current capabilities toward a future where AI agents don’t just review code but automatically test it, trigger downstream workflows, and validate production readiness. This vision encompasses substantial automation of software engineering processes while preserving space for developers to focus on creativity, taste development, and solving genuinely challenging problems.

With the new funding secured, Bito is positioned to accelerate development of these advanced capabilities and expand its market presence. The strong investor backing, combined with proven metrics and growing adoption, suggests the company is well-positioned to capitalize on the growing demand for intelligent development tools that truly understand code in context.
