Women In Tech 2023 (India)

Women In Tech 2023 (India)

Technology has been a thriving field, growing and innovating every day. But the same cannot be said when it comes to female representation. In the tech industry, women are underrepresented. Additionally, they frequently get passed over for promotions, are underpaid, and deal with sexism on a regular basis.

The study finds that out of the total pool of tech professionals across India, the share of women tech professionals is only 29%.

Although women have broken the traditional glass ceiling in the last few years and tried to make a mark, the research finds that merely 8% of women are in leadership roles in tech industries implying that there is still a long way to go. Moreover, women tech employees on average command 17% less salary compared to their male counterparts.

Tech critics assert that a lack of Inclusion and diversity has immediate and substantial costs. This loss can be seen, among other things, in decreased market share, HR and PR expenses, and stock value.

Organisations, of late, have been trying to implement the principles of diversity, inclusion and equality. Industry leaders across all sectors and levels see the potential benefits of gender diversity for their company’s vision.

Our report focuses on how much the tech industry has evolved in the representation of women. The reasons why women feel they are not growing in the industry and what are some of the ways by which the sector and various organizations can make amends to make the tech industry an equitable industry.
